Working primarily with oil paint, I am a 2D media artist based in New York City. My focus has been on understanding and capturing the everyday snapshots of women existing in their moment in time, interwoven with natural elements to represent them in their own story.
I have come to yearn for the understanding and acceptance of seemingly trivial moments. The magnitude of this point in time, no matter how small it may seem in the greater picture of our journey. It is of such great importance, and matters on such a greater scale than can initially be seen. The privilege that is being able to be a part of these relevant moments, creating and reacting to this temporary instance in time, to be able to bring understanding and remembrance: it's what I as an artist seek to embrace in each of my portraits. To highlight the very Relevance of it all. Learning from the teachings of Greek and Roman mythology, each and every one person plays such a vital part in our collective existence. Gaia, being Mother Earth herself- that birthed the gods and goddesses whom all crafted their very existence through nature and the creation of our world as we know it- is present in every facet of our world. What women bring to this existence, as builders, nurturers, warriors, lovers, mothers, healers, and creators- we are everything and everywhere, feeling and making our presence known. This presence will be remembered.
Through my work, the selection of captured moments I'm called to paint: the colors chosen, the natural elements attached- it allows me to highlight the essence of these individuals. The very Relevance of the simplistic beauty that is them just existing. In a single captured moment you can recognize within them the grace, contentment, fear, pain, and strength- the very colors that paint the many faces of the creators of our world.
The Relevance of each and every one of us in this very moment in time.
